Things are getting even more interesting — and affordable — in the race to get tools out to magazine creators in order to produce content for tablets. Mag+ has just announced a new option it’s calling Mag+ Go, which covers one issue/app for $200. Even better, you can download the tools for free, and you only pay when you are ready to launch the issue.

The company has also added a few new features to its toolset, including the ability to add an in-app playlist of music — you can play/stop music through the app, as you are reading the issue. This is one of my favorite things about the SPIN Play app, so it’s definitely something I wouldn’t mind seeing in more magazines. They also support more platforms now, including most tablets that run on the Android Honeycomb OS (10″ Samsung Galaxy, Motorola Xoom).

Mag+ is best known as the publishing platform for iPad editions of titles like Popular Science and Popular Mechanics.

This really makes me want to produce a magazine, and I think I may have the opportunity to do so (for one of my projects).
