Microsoft has launched a new service called Montage, and I think it’s worth mentioning here because it basically lets you easily create a “visual album of the web” in what is certainly inspired by a magazine layout — think Flipboard, for the web, but where all you need are search terms to create the page (no specific links or feeds).

Montage is a flexible web-based service that makes it fun and easy to create and share a visual album of the web on the topics you care about. You can design your Montage around any topic you can imagine by adding content that pulls information from a variety of sources, including RSS feeds, Twitter, Bing News, and YouTube. Montage is an expression of you.

Here’s what a quick and dirty “ipad magazines” Montage looks like (you can modify the layout, but I didn’t).
