At least according to Information Architects (iA). Since its iPad writing app Writer has a similar amount of revenue as Wired — “around $1,200-2,000 or 300-500 downloads per day” — iA’s Oliver makes a case that the only way for publishers to make a decent amount of money is through advertisements.

It should be noted that the last we heard from Conde Nast about monthly Wired sales on iPad — back in October — the number was at 30,000 (compared to iA’s numbers, which would be at least half of that).
